Engineering Society EnV'99 Expands Offerings

8 June 1999

Joel P. Clark of Massachusetts Institute of Technology to Make Presentation
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- ESD, The Engineering Society is excited to announce an addition
to the session offerings at the annual Environmental and Advanced Technology Vehicles
and Alternative Fuels Conference and Exposition (EnV'99).

The timely and relevant topic "Methods for Comparing Product Life Cycles Under
Temporally Distributed Production Scenarios," will be presented by Joel P. Clark
of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Clark's paper will be presented
on Monday, June 14, 1999 at EnV'99, which will be held at the Ypsilanti Marriott.
Clark will discuss the recently developed life-cycle model, which uses systems dynamics
tools, that explicitly tracks the evolution of life cycle emissions over time for
either a single automobile or a fleet of vehicles.

The mission of EnV'99 is to hold sessions that address the technical,
governmental and infrastructural issues facing environmental vehicles today.
The conference will feature topics such as Transportation for the 21st
Century, Globalization and Policy, Infrastructure, Marketing/Vehicle Overview,
Materials and Manufacturing Components and Propulsion. An exhibition, open
daily, of advanced components and vehicles will be displayed with suppliers
and OEMs describing their ideas and innovations. Defining state-of-the-art
direction of low emission vehicles will provide suppliers, OEMs, fleet owners,
government regulators and researchers with invaluable knowledge to facilitate
the expansion of this market.

EnV'99 is being co-chaired by Mitsuyuki Ugajin, Vice President Powertrain
- Regulations, Toyota Technical Center USA Ann Arbor and Stephen E. Zimmer,
Director, New Generation Vehicles Program, DaimlerChrysler Corporation.
