Texas Student Wins 10,000 Michelin Scholarship

Local Student Awarded $10,000 Scholarship From Michelin and Tire Association of North AmericaMARION, Texas, June 25 -- Krista Schnieder, a graduate of Marion High School in Marion, Texas received a $10,000 scholarship from Michelin North America and the Tire Association of North America (TANA). Krista was president of the Business Professionals of America, vice president of the National Honor Society, and vice president and treasurer of the Future Farmers of America (FFA). She is also an active community volunteer, assisting in flood relief and as an FFA mentor. Krista plans to major in animal sciences this fall at Texas A&M University. All applicants for the Michelin/TANA Scholarship Program are evaluated on academic achievement, participation in school and community activities, work experience and leadership qualities. Citizens' Scholarship Foundation of America, a national non-profit student aid service organization, selects the scholarship recipients. The Michelin/TANA Scholarship Program assists part-time employees or dependents of full-time employees of TANA-member dealerships in their post-secondary education. Michelin and TANA introduced the program in 1995 and have awarded 15 scholarships worth $100,000 since its inception.
