Land Rover North America to Open Second Driving School; The Land Rover Driving School at The Greenbrier Set to Open in JulyWHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va., July 8 -- Land Rover North America, Inc., announces the formation of the second Land Rover Driving School in North America. The famous Greenbrier Resort, voted the number one resort in North America by Conde Naste Traveler in 1998, will be home to The Land Rover Driving School at The Greenbrier, scheduled to open in July 1999. Land Rover North America's first driving academy, The Land Rover Driving School at The Equinox, located in Manchester Village, Vermont, opened in April 1997. To date, in excess of 3000 people have enjoyed learning the fundamentals of off- road driving at The Equinox. "The Greenbrier is one of the premier resorts in the world and an ideal location for us as we work to expand our successful driving schools," said Howard I. Mosher, president of Land Rover North America. "The Land Rover Driving Schools provide an opportunity for us to share our knowledge of proper off-road driving techniques and increase the awareness of the Tread Lightly principles. They're also a great place to enjoy the outstanding capability of our vehicles." Expert instructors at the Land Rover driving schools will stress the importance of proper off-road driving techniques and address environmental concerns. Driving classes at The Land Rover Driving School at The Greenbrier will be available year-round, as they are at The Equinox, and will place special emphasis on winter driving techniques during the winter months. The school will feature the full line of Land Rover vehicles, including the 1999 Discovery Series II and famous Range Rover. It will be open to all drivers who are licensed and insured. Classes will be held on a purpose built off-road driving course within the grounds of The Greenbrier's 6500-acre estate nestled in the Allegheny Mountains in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Prices for lessons start at $150 for a one-hour session for up to three people. The expert instructors at the school draw from years of personal experience on numerous off-road adventures; some are veterans of the famous Camel Trophy, considered by many to be the Olympics of four-wheel driving. Land Rover is the world's only manufacturer of exclusively 4WD vehicles and has over 50 years of four-wheel drive experience. Land Rovers are sold through 119 retail outlets across the U.S., 76 of which are dedicated Land Rover Centres, which provide Land Rover owners with expert sales and service facilities, plus a full line of accessories and apparel.
