Is Your Lawn Mower 'Built Like a Mack Truck'?

    LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa.--August 11, 1999--

Mack, Ariens Join Forces to Offer Lawn, Garden, Snow
Removal Equipment

If it's beginning to look like you'll never realize your dream of driving a Mack(R) truck, you'll soon be able to do the next best thing -- drive a Mack lawn tractor or snow remover.
Mack Trucks, Inc., has announced an agreement with the Ariens Company of Brillion, WI, to offer a full line of Mack-branded consumer lawn, garden and snow removal equipment via national retailers, beginning in the spring of 2000.
"We're anticipating very strong demand for outdoor power equipment that's 'built like a Mack truck,'" said Mack Executive Vice President Samuel L. Torrence. "Both Ariens and Mack have long traditions of quality and performance, and we look forward to extending that reputation and the Mack name into a whole new line of premium products."
The agreement is the latest in a series of licenses that have extended the Mack name and Bulldog symbol -- two of the world's most recognized commercial trademarks -- into a diverse line of consumer products. Mack's licensing agency, Leveraged Marketing Corporation of America (LMCA), helped to identify Ariens as a partner.
"Ariens and Mack are recognized leaders in their industries," said Ariens Company President Dan Ariens. "We're proud to add the Mack name to our product line, and look forward to working with Mack to deliver Ariens premium-quality products that are built 'Bulldog tough.'"
Ariens Company, founded in 1933, uses the latest in technology together with the wisdom of the past to build high-quality products at a fair price. The company manufactures riding and walking lawn mowers, rotary tillers, snow throwers, and garden tractors under the Ariens and Gravely brand names.
Through Stens Outdoor Power Equipment Parts, the company also produces parts for the outdoor power equipment aftermarket. The firm has an extensive dealer and distributor network throughout the United States and Canada.
