Mitsubishi Galant Named Sedan-Of-The-Year By The Auto Channel; Mid-Size Sedan Selected as Best of 1999 for its Style, Performance and Value
    CYPRESS, Calif., Aug. 30 -- Citing its "exceptional value,
superior interior and exterior style, overall handling and copious
accouterments," The Auto Channel has selected the 1999 Mitsubishi Galant as
its "Sedan of the Year."
    "Galant was designed to offer sedan buyers a unique combination of style,
performance and value," said Pierre Gagnon, executive vice president and chief
operating officer for Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc. (MMSA.)  "This
award confirms that Galant certainly sets itself apart from look-alike,
drive-alike mid-size sedans."
    The Auto Channel award was received the same month Car and Driver magazine
ranked the Galant number one in its test of eight $20,000 mid-size sedans.
    The Galant, all new for 1999, is a stylish departure in the mid-size sedan
category.  With two powerful engine choices  --  a 145-horsepower 2.4-liter
4-cylinder or a 195-horsepower 3.0-liter V6  --  and a suspension tuned for
precise handling, it has the performance to back its sleek appearance.
    Galant models M.S.R.P. range from $17,245 for the 4-cylinder DE to $24,875
for the sporty, V6-equipped GTZ (including destination/handling).
