Daewoo Announces Strongest Sales Since U.S. Launch One Year AgoCOMPTON, Calif., Oct. 4 -- Daewoo Motor America announces September as its best month in the U.S. auto market. For the first time since the product entered the U.S. auto market one year ago, sales have reached 3,848 units in retail. In the 25-day period, Leganza sold 1,010 units, Nubira sold 1,033 units and the Lanos more than doubled its August sales with 1,805 units. Since being introduced into the U.S. auto market in September 1998, Daewoo automobiles have received strong recognition for their quality and high value. The Automobile Club of Southern California's 1999 Target Car Program Final Report placed the Daewoo Lanos 3 door SE first and the Nubira SX second in the "Best Value Car" category. The Leganza CDX ranked seventh among passenger cars, according to cost per point results. Daewoo has added 70 retail outlets and eight states to its network since August. Currently Daewoo operates 209 outlets in 43 states. Daewoo plans on increasing its retail network to 300 outlets by year-end. Daewoo Motor America will be participating in the South Florida Auto Show in October. The spotlight will be on the much-anticipated Nubira 2000. Nubira 2000 displays the most significant revisions of any Daewoo vehicles being sold in the U.S., and the South Florida Auto Show will be its first public appearance.
