Jiffy Lube Offers to Shed Light On Dark Winter Days Ahead; Turn Back Your Clocks and Check Your Headlights

HOUSTON--Oct. 26, 1999--The sun will set early Monday and many of the nation's commuters will be driving home in darkness thanks to the closing of Daylight Savings Time, which comes to an end for the final time this millennium at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31st.
"Now more than any other time of the year it is important to ensure that your headlights are operating properly," says Lucille Treganowan, "America's Most Trusted Mechanic." In preparation for the time change, Treganowan is encouraging motorists to stop by their neighborhood Jiffy Lube service center for a free headlight check-up.
Merging regular vehicle maintenance tasks, such as checking headlights, with Daylight Savings Time is a convenient way to ensure trouble-free transportation in the cold winter months ahead.
Be sure to check all lights on your car, including brake lights and turn signals, and replace any burnt-out bulbs. For maximum visibility, use a soft cloth and gentle car wash solution to clean dirt from the light covers.
Put the extra hour gained to good use by giving your vehicle a pre-winter check-up. Then, if the weather turns frightful, your car will remain delightful.
Treganowan, owner of two shops called "Transmissions by Lucille," is also the spokesperson for Jiffy Lube International, Inc. The most renowned female mechanic in America, Lucille is a no-nonsense grandmother who dealers, competitors and members of her own staff ask for advice on tough auto repairs.
Fast lubes were pioneered in 1979 by Jiffy Lube, now a wholly owned subsidiary of Pennzoil-Quaker State Company. Since its acquisition by Pennzoil in 1990, Jiffy Lube has expanded significantly, becoming the world's largest fast lube operator and franchiser. With the merger of Pennzoil and Quaker State in December 1998, some 600 Q-Lubes were added to the more than 1,500 Jiffy Lube service centers across the country. Conversion of the majority of these Q-Lube service centers to the Jiffy Lube banner is underway. This year more than 33 million consumers will trust their vehicles to Jiffy Lube.
