Volvo Offers Environmental Car Care Kit; Proceeds Go to National Arbor Day FoundationROCKLEIGH, N.J., Nov. 2 -- Volvo's new car care kit contains cleaning products which are water-based and biodegradable, and packaged based on the eco-cycle principle. Beginning November 1, Volvo will donate $5 to The National Arbor Day Foundation for every car care kit sold. A minimum of $2000 will be donated. The $47.48 kit includes wash, degreaser, wheel/engine cleaner, plastic cleaner, wax, a wheel brush, sponge, cotton towel and bucket. Available at all Volvo retailers, the products are useful for new and classic Volvos, and non-Volvo vehicles too. "Many drivers make an effort to dispose of used oil and other fluids in an environmentally correct way. Now we are making it easy for them to minimize their environmental impact during the cleaning process, and simultaneously help us support a worthwhile environmental cause," explains Phil Cabot, Manager of Aftersales Business. The National Arbor Day Foundation's mission is to help people plant and care for trees and encourage the celebration of Arbor Day to advance global environmental stewardship for the benefit of this and future generations. Volvo's environmental care officially began in 1972 when the company was the first in the automotive industry to declare its commitment during the first United Nations Conference on the Environment. Since then, Volvo introduced the 3-way catalytic converter and the revolutionary Lambda Sond(TM) sensor, eliminated all asbestos and harmful CFCs from vehicles, created an environmental education web site for high school science teachers (http://www.environment.volvocars.com), trained employees and earned acclaim for its efforts worldwide. Recently, Volvo entered a unique environmental education partnership with Columbia University, and introduced the world's first environmental product declaration.
