PITTSBURGH, Nov. 3 -- If your city was among those with the
highest number of cold and flu cases last year, be prepared to receive a visit
from "The Bug" this year. We're not promising another year of severe cold and
flu, but rather a visit from the Contac Millennium Bug Contest tour to help
ease the unpleasantness of the cold and flu season.
To launch new-and-improved Contac 12-Hour Cold Capsules, SmithKline
Beecham Consumer Healthcare (SBCH) is introducing the Contac Millennium Bug
Contest. A 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle filled with jumbo-sized Contac Cold
Capsules will travel the United States, stopping in cities that were among
those hardest hit by cold and flu last year.
Consumers are invited to submit their guess for how many giant Contac
Capsules are in the New Beetle with the chance to win one of twelve prizes --
one for each hour of cold relief provided by Contac Capsules. The entrant who
comes closest to guessing the correct number wins a Grand Prize of the VW New
Beetle used in the contest promotion and a one-year supply of Contac. The
second closest to the actual number wins a new computer (Y2K-compliant, of
course) and a one-year supply of Contac Capsules. Ten runners-up will win a
special Contac Millennium Bug Contest golf shirt and a one-year supply of

"We are introducing the 12-hour cold relief of Contac and its 700 tiny
time pills to a whole new generation of users and wanted to do it in a fun,
creative way," said Paul Sklar, brand manager at SBCH. "Since the launch of
the new-and-improved Contac Capsules coincides with the coming of the new
Millennium, we wanted to play that up. It's New Contac for the New
Millennium."
CONTAC CAPSULES ARE MOST ADVANCED COLD CAPSULES EVER MADE
The new Contac Capsules are manufactured using state-of-the-art
prescription technology to help guide the accurate dosing of Contac Capsule's
powerful cold medicine over a 12-hour time period. It is the only over-the-
counter product to use the prescription technology for precision timed release
of Contac's medicine, which yields effective relief of cold and flu symptoms

Tour will make the first of ten planned, two-day stops as it makes its way
across the country to promote the introduction of new-and-improved Contac Cold
Capsules. At each of the two-day stops, the Volkswagen New Beetle filled with
giant Contac Cold Capsule replicas will be on display at several area retail
locations. Consumers are invited to stop by the tour and fill out an official
entry form with their guess for how many replica Capsules are in the VW New
Beetle. (Limit one entry per person.) Official contest rules will be
available on location, as will coupons toward the purchase of Contac Cold
Capsules.
A photograph of the actual VW New Beetle used on the tour will also be
posted on the World Wide Web at http://www.contacmillenniumbug.com, along with the
official contest rules. Consumers can either download the official entry form
or mail their entry (name, address, day and evening phone number, date-of-
birth and guess) on a 3x5 card to Contac Millennium Bug Contest, P.O. Box
3446, Pittsburgh, PA 15230-3446. The contest begins on November 3 and all
entries must be postmarked by December 17 and received no later than
December 21.
