Mazda Celebrates Millennium with Special Millenia Model;- 2000 Millennium Edition Millenia Dubbed he 'Official Car of the Millennium' - IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 8 -- While many cars can lay claim to "Car of the Year" or "Car of the Century" titles, only one can rightfully claim to be the "Official Car of the Millennium." That car, of course, is the aptly named 2000 Mazda Millenia Millennium Edition. This special, limited- production model goes on sale this fall and includes several unique features not seen before on Mazda's flagship luxury sedan. The limited-production Millennium Edition is available in two exclusive colors -- Highlight Silver and Millennium Red -- and features 17-inch chrome alloy wheels, charcoal-colored suede seat and door trim, revised wood grain trim panels, six-disc in-dash CD changer, leather-wrapped A/T shift lever and handbrake lever, special Millennium Edition badging on the C-pillars and logos on the door panels and scuff plates. The result is a stylish, exclusive vehicle that only comes around once in a thousand years. There are two other Millenia trim levels for 2000 -- the well-equipped Millenia and the potent Millenia S with Mazda's unique Miller-cycle engine. A smooth and efficient 170-horsepower, 2.5-liter, DOHC V6 powers the Millenia, while the Millenia S and Millennium Edition sport a 210-horsepower, 2.3-liter, Miller-cycle, DOHC V6. This award-winning futuristic powerplant uses delayed intake valve timing and a Lysholm compressor to deliver the power of a larger engine with the fuel economy of a smaller one. Every Millenia model comes standard with a four-speed automatic transmission, leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, automatic climate control system, 16-inch alloy wheels, AM/FM/CD/cassette audio system, remote keyless entry system with two fobs, fog lamps, eight-way power driver's seat and dual de-powered air bags. The Millenia S adds leather seating surfaces, electronic traction control, 17-inch alloy wheels, power moonroof, eight-way power passenger's seat and a BOSE(R) audio system. The styling of the Millenia is sleek, fresh and timeless. It looks sporty and sophisticated. The interior is equally stylish, with the thoughtful touches expected in a luxury car. All Millenia models come with a smooth-riding four-wheel multi-link independent suspension, responsive variable-assist power rack-and-pinion steering and four-wheel disc brakes with ABS. The result is a vehicle with athletic agility and a luxurious ride. In addition to its standard dual de-powered air bags, the Millenia features front and rear crumple zones, side impact door beams and special reinforcing boxes beneath the rear seat cushion to help protect the occupants in a side impact. Mazda is turning back the clock to 1994, with 2000 Millenia pricing below the 1995 model year introductory pricing. During the first half of 1999, Millenia sales experienced a year-over-year increase of 21.7 percent. To help continue this positive trend, Mazda is reducing the base Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price of the Millenia by $1,750, to $24,995, and the price of the Millenia S by $1,250, to $29,995. The price of the Millennium Edition is $30,995. The 2000 Mazda Millenia, like all Mazda models, comes with a three-year roadside assistance program. With a call to a toll-free number, Millenia owners can access roadside assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year throughout the United States and Canada. The Millenia is covered by a three-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty that covers every part on the vehicle except those subject to normal wear. The Millenia also features a five-year/unlimited-mileage corrosion warranty. To view the 2000 Mazda Millenia Millennium Edition, visit the Mazda website at http://www.mazdausa.com.
