'Popular Science' Selects Audi TT Coupe for 1999 'Best of What's New' AwardNEW YORK, Nov. 10 -- "Popular Science", one of the leading magazines in the nation for innovation in new products, the latest technology developments, and scientific achievements, presented Audi with a "Best of What's New" award for 1999. Audi of America, Inc. is receiving this award for the technical prowess and innovation represented by its new TT Coupe. Popular Science will be announcing Audi's achievement in their December 1999 issue. The formal awards luncheon and exhibition was held today in New York at the Tavern on the Green restaurant in Central Park. The TT is amongst 100 winners out of the thousands of entries received by the editors of Popular Science this year across a wide range of product categories. The new TT is the birth of an Audi sports car tradition. Pure. Unabashed. Authentic. Attainable. These are just some of the simple, powerful words that describe Audi's new sports car. The TT has all the credentials of an authentic German sports car with its 180 horsepower 1.8 liter turbocharged five-valve engine, five-speed manual transmission, disc brakes with ABS, and sophisticated sport suspension. Riding on its standard 16-inch alloy wheels, the TT Coupe accelerates to 60 miles per hour in 7.4 seconds. This "Best of What's New" award adds to the TT's impressive list of achievements. Since its introduction this year, the TT has been recognized for a number of awards, including a Consumers Digest's "Best Buy" award, one of I.D. magazine's prestigious design awards and being recognized by Metropolitan Home magazine for its outstanding design.
