Code-Alarm Remote Starters a Hot Seller Despite Mild Weather
    MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich., Jan. 7 -- Code-Alarm's
(OTC Bulletin Board: CODL) answer to cold winter mornings has been a hot
seller.
The Madison Heights, Mich.-based manufacturer of vehicle security and
remote keyless-entry products said sales of its remote car starters are
outpacing last year's strong results, reflecting dealer acceptance of the
Code-Alarm's one-year-old SureStart(TM) Series. This series is a line of four
remote starter systems and a combined remote-start/security system,
representing a "good-better-best-ultimate" approach to marketing.
Code-Alarm said sales of its remote starters were approximately 30 percent
ahead of last season's levels through December, in spite of unseasonably warm
weather around the country. Leading the charge was the Company's all-in-one
security, keyless-entry and remote starter system: the SureStart LX.
Introduced in November 1998, the SureStart LX not only protects the car, but
also enables its owner to lock or unlock the car and warm it up on a cold
winter morning via remote control. Designed for installation by mobile
electronics specialty retailers, the SureStart LX features:

    * Two four-button remote controls featuring labeled, color buttons and
"rolling code" technology for anti-code grabbing protection.

    *  The patented InfraRed Sensor (IR-s(TM)), a state-of-the-art impact
sensor that protects the car against tampering, glass breakage and theft by
towing.

    * Remote start capability that allows the car owner to warm the engine
and heat or cool the interior of the vehicle.

    * The MaxRange(TM) dipole antenna for operating distances of 750 feet or
more. This allows for starting the vehicle remotely or activating panic or
other functions from long range.

    * Additional remote functions include car finder, which allows the user
to find his or her vehicle in a crowded parking lot; illuminated entry and
exit to turn lights on and off; and the ability to turn on headlights and
start the vehicle defroster via remote control.

"The SureStart Series has been our response to a growing interest in
remote starters," said Michael Schroeder, vice president of sales and
marketing for Code-Alarm. "This series is a great example of our effort to
make technology that talks to cars and trucks.
"Our experience as a supplier to the world's leading automakers has
enabled us to design products that can be easily and safely integrated with
any vehicle's electronics. At the same time, we've listened to our dealers
and to consumers in an effort to make products that are simple to sell, simple
to install and, most importantly, simple for the consumer to use," Schroeder
concluded.
The SureStart products are priced from $129 to $399 (MSRP; installation
not included). For more information about the SureStart line of remote
