Urban Suburban Winner at Chicago Auto Show Charity EventCHICAGO, Feb. 11 -- "I guess it's one of those things that you hear about, but never think will happen to you," said Sherry Misgen, the smiling winner of a Chevrolet Suburban at the Chicago Auto Show's First Look for Charity. "I love seeing the new cars and the fun of the charity preview, but wow, this is a big plus." Misgen is a Loop accountant and attended the black-tie preview of the nation's largest auto show several years ago, but tonight was her lucky night. "I don't even own a car," she said. "But I sure own a terrific one now and I can take along all the friends I want. But I'm most happy that that the charities won tonight. " More than 10,000 others took part in the event raising more than $1.2 million for 12 local charities. First Look for Charity is in its ninth year and is one of Chicago's largest single-day fund-raising events. "This event is so heartwarming for us," said Bill Stasek, chairman of the 2000 Chicago Auto Show. "Not only do we get to help these wonderful charities raise needed funds for their activities, but we get to show off McCormick Place like no other show that comes to town." The giant Chicago Auto Show opens Friday at noon and runs through Feb. 20. More than 1 million consumers are expected to attend the exposition.
