Third Annual C5 Birthday Bash Kicks off Museum's Events for 2000 Bowling Green, KY - The Third Annual C5 Birthday Bash scheduled for April 13-16, at the National Corvette Museum, begins the first of many Museum events for 2000. The C5 Bash celebrates the introduction of Chevrolet's fifth generation Corvette, the C5, and offers a four-day weekend of festivities that include a unique display by John Cafaro, the C5's Chief Designer. Cafaro will showcase two of his personal concepts, a C5 Speedster and a C5 Sports Racer, and has designed the artwork for a special commemorative registration package dash plaque and event program. This year's event will feature presentations by top Chevrolet engineers and designers, seminars and autograph sessions. David Hill, Corvette Chief Engineer, will discuss C5 innovations from the insider's view, along with the latest news on Chevrolet product lines by Jim Campbell, Corvette/Camaro Brand Manager. John Powell, racecar driver and team leader of Sunco/Powell Motorsports C5 Corvette, will present an informative seminar, discuss the Motorola cup race program, and show off his winning Daytona Motorola Cup Enduro race C5 Corvette. A number of celebrities in C5 engineering and racing will be in attendance, and many will provide informative seminars for participants throughout the weekend. Other highlights of the weekend include the C5 Birthday Banquet and Auction held at the Bowling Green-Warren County Convention Center. This year's banquet and auction will be a sold out evening of celebrity dining, and offers auction items that include the hood from the 1999 C5R racecar and yellow front fascia from the new 2000 model C5R racecar, autographed and signed by the drivers and the race team. A celebrity fashion show at the museum, autocross and drag racing at Beech Bend Raceway Park, tours of the GM Corvette Assembly Plant, and an early bird scenic tour of Mammoth Cave National Park are planned to highlight the weekend festivities.
