Sixteen Year Old with Bend Sensor Technology Wins National Recognition

SALT LAKE CITY--April 6, 2000--Flexpoint Sensors System Inc. (OTC BB: FLXP) today announced that sixteen-year-old Jason Harris won the grand prize and six additional special awards at the 2000 Science Engineering Fair of Houston in Houston.
Jason lives in Conroe, Texas and attends The Academy of Science & Technology, a member of the National Consortium for Specialized Secondary Schools of Mathematics, Science and Technology. Jason's project was entitled "Developing Tactile Sensors for a Mechanical Hand" using the Bend Sensor(R) technology.
Jason has also won numerous other awards for his project from several fortune five hundred companies, colleges and government agencies such as MIT, NASA, USAF, Bechtel, Lockheed Martin, Huntsman Chemical and an academic Scholarship from Shell Oil over the last two years. He is now qualified to compete in the 51st Intel International Science & Engineering Fair in Detroit, Michigan, May 7-13, 2000.
"My project was building a robotic hand controlled by a person wearing a modified virtual reality glove and moving their fingers. The fingers on the robotic hand would then mimic the operator's fingers," said Jason.
"Flexpoint's Bend Sensors made the project possible. Without the sensors I would not have been able to measure accurate finger movement in the glove and create the feedback necessary. Flexpoint was extremely helpful by donating the Bend Sensors for the project and providing assistance with any question that I had."
Doug Odom, president of Flexpoint Sensor Systems Inc. stated, "Flexpoint is pleased to be able to give back to the community by supporting the academic efforts of bright young talent. We congratulate Jason for his hard work and success with his project using our Bend Sensor technology."
Flexpoint Sensor Systems Inc. has developed and patented the Bend Sensor technology. The Bend Sensor is a technological breakthrough that reduces the dimensions of typical sensor devices by as much as 90 percent. Management believes this ultra-thin flexible plastic film is the lightest, most robust and cost-effective variable resistor available.
Flexpoint is able to offer a superior solution for applications that require accurate measurement and sensing of deflection, acceleration and range of motion.
Global market opportunities include automotive, medical, industrial controls, health and fitness, security, computer peripherals, aerospace, transportation and toys and consumer products. Flexpoint has produced over 6 million sensors for the toy and consumer industries.
