17 May 2000
FOREST CITY, Iowa - Consumers Digest has recognized two of Winnebago motor homes as being "Best Buys." The 2000 Winnebago Minnie(R) and 2000 Winnebago Adventurer(R) were both named in the Recreation Equipment Buying Guide included in the May/June 2000 issue of Consumers Digest. "In the past three years, we have totally redesigned our entire motor home lineup -- with an emphasis on usability and home-like design," said Winnebago Industries' Chairman of the Board, CEO and President Bruce Hertzke. "Receiving this distinction proves that we are continually listening to our customers in order to provide the best possible product at the best possible price." In order to achieve a "Best Buy" rating, Consumers Digest identified products that offer outstanding value for the price, and merit special attention from buyers. Consumers Digest recognized the Winnebago Minnie as a "well-known and respectable name in Class C motor homes," that "comes with multiple floorplans and even offers a choice between a Ford or Chevrolet chassis." In the Class A category, the user-friendly Winnebago Adventurer, the most highly researched motor home in the Company's history, is "designed with improved ergonomics for easier entry and exiting, easy-to-read instrumentation and a more convenient location for switches and gauges." According to Statistical Surveys, Inc., a retail reporting firm in Grand Rapids, Mich., Winnebago Industries, Inc. was recognized as the top selling Class C manufacturer in the United States, which includes the Minnie, for the past two consecutive years. Winnebago Industries' Winnebago brand motor homes, including the Winnebago Adventurer, were also awarded the top selling Class A brand during calendars 1998 and 1999, outselling every other Class A brand in the US. Statistical Surveys also reported that Winnebago Industries experienced dynamic growth of 18.4 percent in Class A and C retail motor home sales in calendar 1999.
