RX 300 Goes on the Block at Christie'sTORRANCE, Calif. - Lexus' one-millionth vehicle built for the United States will be auctioned on June 17 at Christie's Exceptional Cars auction at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, Calif. The 2000 RX 300 SUV, with a retail value of $39,500, was donated to the Petersen Automotive Museum last December as part of Lexus' celebration for reaching its one-millionth milestone. The funds raised from the auction of the RX 300 will benefit the museum. The Christie's auction, scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. on June 17, will feature more than 50 vehicles, most of which are early model-year collectors' vehicles. "We're proud to have a Lexus be the only 2000 model year vehicle in the auction," said Bryan Bergsteinsson, Lexus group vice president and general manager. "The title of the event is Exceptional Motor Cars, and this RX 300 certainly represents an exceptional milestone in Lexus history." The Millennium Silver RX 300 features several modifications that make it unique. In addition to special badging, the SUV has Michelin Cross Terrain 17" tires on MHT custom wheels. A special grille also makes the car stand out from the other RX 300s on the road. An attractive wood and marble plaque will accompany the vehicle stating that the RX 300 is indeed the millionth Lexus built for the U.S. market. "On behalf of the Petersen Museum, we greatly appreciate Lexus' generous gift," said Ken Gross, director of the Petersen Automotive Museum. "It's been great having the one-millionth Lexus on display, and it's generated a lot of favorable comments." For information on the auction, contact Christie's Los Angeles at (310) 385-2699.
