L.L.Bean(R) President Leon Gorman and Subaru Executives Showcase New 2001MY Subaru Outback H6-3.0 L.L.Bean Edition

                 New Vehicle Built at SIA in Lafayette, Ind.

    LAFAYETTE, Ind., Sept. 19 Executives from Subaru of
America, Inc. (SOA) and L.L.Bean, including President Leon Gorman, gathered
today at Subaru-Isuzu Automotive Inc. (SIA) in Lafayette, Ind., to showcase
the new 2001 model year Subaru Outback H6-3.0 L.L.Bean Edition.  The new
vehicle is being manufactured at SIA and will be available in showrooms in
November.
    Mr. Gorman (grandson of the founder, L.L.Bean) was joined by SOA Executive
Vice President Fred Adcock; SOA Vice President of Marketing H. William
Cyphers; SIA President and CEO Masayoshi Nagano; and SIA Vice President, Human
Resources, Corporate Affairs & General Counsel Tom Easterday to showcase the
new Subaru vehicle.
    "Both L.L.Bean and Subaru share a commitment to superior service, quality
and a dedication to the responsible enjoyment of the outdoors," said L.L.Bean
President Leon Gorman.  "We are honored to display the L.L.Bean name on this
exciting new vehicle."
    The 2001MY Subaru Outback H6-3.0 L.L.Bean Edition Outback is the
centerpiece of strategic marketing partnership between Subaru of America, Inc.
and L.L.Bean.  The partnership closely aligns Subaru and L.L.Bean's goals of
attracting active lifestyle consumers who are dedicated to responsible
enjoyment of the outdoors.  The agreement creates the first-ever automobile
partnership for L.L.Bean and the first outfitter relationship for Subaru of
America.
    "If the outdoors were a car, it would have a Subaru badge on it," said

    The 2001MY Outback L.L.Bean Edition features standard convenience items
including a keyless entry and security system, an auto-dimming rearview
compass mirror and a cabin air-filtration system.  Additionally, passengers
are treated to a host of luxurious appointments including additional wood
grain patterned door switch trim, L.L.Bean embroidered floor mats, L.L.Bean
embossed front seats and two tone leather-trimmed seats, front and rear.  The
new model is covered under an exclusive L.L.Bean Carefree Performance
Protection package.
    The 2001MY Subaru Outback H6-3.0 L.L.Bean Edition has an MSRP
(Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price) of $29,495 (plus a destination and
delivery fee of $495).
