Visctronic Fan Drive Provides Cooling And Fuel Economy

20 September 2000

Visctronic Fan Drive from BorgWarner Cooling Systems Provides Better Cooling And Fuel Economy for SUVs and Light Trucks
INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 20 The Visctronic(TM) Fan Drive from
BorgWarner Cooling Systems represents a new generation of products with
electronic control. Visctronic technology provides better cooling solutions
and improved fuel economy for SUVs and light trucks, as well as medium-duty,
some heavy-duty truck applications, and off-highway vehicles.
"Our Visctronic Fan Drive is an efficient choice for today's engines with
ever more stringent cooling requirements," explains Greg Hendricks,
Global Marketing Director, BorgWarner Cooling Systems. "This product has been
extremely well received in the marketplace, and we have firm commitments from
one of the major vehicle suppliers."
The electronically managed, or direct-actuated, product provides improved
fuel economy through lower disengaged speeds and optimum fan load management
during cooling periods. The Visctronic Fan Drive produces less fan noise and
frees more engine power for other tasks. Through smoother speed transitions,
it also extends the life of the fan drive belt, which is critical to engine
performance.
In addition to contributing to better fuel economy, the product's precise
airflow management allows for tighter control of engine temperature, leading
to a potential reduction in exhaust emissions.
