Nissan Forges a New Frontier With the 'World's Largest Pickup Truck'
               - Automaker Touts its 2001 Supercharged Frontier
By Turning Its Gardena Headquarters into a Gigantic Billboard -

GARDENA, Calif., Nov. 22 Holiday commuters on the 405 and
110 freeways just south of Los Angeles will find themselves staring headlong
into the grill of a 55-foot tall 2001 SuperCharged Nissan Frontier and the
message, "Please Obey All Speed Limits."
The message is posted on a gigantic banner covering better than one-half
of the Nissan North America national headquarters in Gardena, California and
will be seen by approximately 270,000 drivers each day as they travel between
the city and outlying areas.
"In many ways, drivers have trained themselves to ignore many roadside
billboards," says Scott Fessenden, director of marketing, Nissan North
America, Inc. "But this message, like the SuperCharged Frontier itself, packs
some significant punch. The authoritative tone of the message coupled with
the bold styling of the new Frontier definitely command attention."
Workers began installing the 55' by 171' wide banner over the weekend and
will complete the job by Thanksgiving. The banner will cover nearly the
entire north side of Nissan's nine-floor building on South Figueroa Street and
is part of a comprehensive product advertising campaign and integrated
marketing effort developed by Nissan.
The 2001 SuperCharged Frontier is Nissan's most recent entry into the
North American compact truck market. The truck went on sale in early August,
while the SuperCharged Frontier became available nationwide earlier this
month. The redesigned Frontier is among the first in a flurry of bold, new
product offerings to come from Nissan during the next several years.
