    Fleetwood RV's 2002 Avion Products

Fleetwood RV, the world's leading recreational vehicle manufacturer reaffirms its class leading position in the luxury towable market with its completely new Avion Platinum & Avion Vintage product lines. The Avion's fifth wheel product line has epitomized Fleetwood's luxury product for forty years with world-class amenities and comfort.
The new Avion Platinum and Avion Vintage are the ambassadors of Fleetwood's new Product Development Process (PDP). A thorough and complete restructuring of how Fleetwood develops, manufacturers and markets its recreational vehicle products. The new Product Development Process is a balanced, practiced system that relies on four basic pillars: cross-functional core teams, critical business decision points, thoroughness milestones and total integration of process. The results of the PDP will be innovative state-of-the-art products like the all-new Avion product lines, luxury fifth wheels that took just 90 days to conceive, create, test and build as a market ready product.
The 2002 Avion will feature two products levels, Platinum and Vintage. Initially, the Avion Platinum products will be offered in 31-foot to 36-foot floor plans with Avion Vintage models from 33-foot to 38-foot. Seven separate floor plans for each product will allow the customer to select the perfect floor plan for their particular needs. Of the seven floor plans, five will be shared and two will be exclusive to each product line. Platinum's distinctive layouts will be on the 31 and 32-foot models while Vintage will see its exclusive floor plans on the 37 and 38-foot models.
In addition to the seven floor plans, the Avion products will offer a host of features and options. Dura-glide(R) electrically operated slide-outs will be offered on every floor plan adding additional living space. These will vary from two to three slide-outs depending on the specific model selected. All models will include a bedroom slide-out and a living room slide-out.
Fabric upholstery is standard equipment, optional leather offered across the board. The Platinum and Vintage feature hardwood raised panel cabinet doors with light oak cabinetry as standard equipment and walnut available as an option on the Vintage.
The 8'4" main room ceiling height and 6'8" ceiling height in the living room slide-outs provides all Avion units with a spacious, open feeling residential living area. Large panoramic smoke tinted windows further this open feeling by allowing the outdoors to shine in yet control heat and cooling system losses. Privacy and light control are quickly and easily obtained via the standard day/night shades.
The entertainment center comes complete with a 27" television, stereo VCR and a surround sound stereo system. The stereo systems include AM/FM cassette, multiple disc CD player and utilizes a seven speaker system in the Platinum while the system fitted in the Vintage uses seven speakers and a sub-woofer.
A quiet, peaceful night's sleep is assured by comfortable, well thought out bedroom layouts. The bedroom offers a standard slide-out, which features an island style queen bed, full-length vanity and abundant storage. For those customers in search of a bit more comfort and sleeping space a king size bed is optional on most models.
The spacious galleys provide beauty and functionality in a layout that is equally capable of handling preparations for a gourmet meal. Features include raised panel hardwood cabinet doors, solid surface countertops, large sinks, single lever lift off faucet with sprayer, three burner range with oven and a space saver microwave.     Keeping the climate at a pleasant, comfortable level is a collection of systems and features that include an Atwood 2-stage Excaliber(R) furnace, Polar-aire(R) vent and low profile roof mounted air conditioning unit. The two-stage furnace has been designed to be more efficient and quieter from the previous model with a new high/low burner and blower assembly. The system features a 34,000 BTU high range for bringing the room temperature up to the desired level quickly and efficiently. The system's low range uses its 23,000 BTU's to quietly keep the room at the desired temperature. The system is controlled via an easy to use wall-mounted 13 function digital thermostat. Warm weather comfort is seen to with a ceiling fan and the roof mounted Polar-aire vent. The living room Polar-aire vent is thermostatically controlled; the Vintage bedroom unit is a non-sensor model. When the temperature begins to climb towards the triple digit level the air conditioning system is up to the task. The standard roof mounted 15,000 BTU A/C unit is ceiling ducted and can be upgraded with a second unit for those extra hot climates.
A solid and durable platform is assured with a welded steel frame construction utilizing Paco I-beam mainrails. The Paco I-beam construction utilizes corrugated beams for added strength. This dedication towards durability and long lasting beauty continues with the sidewall construction. The welded aluminum framed sidewalls are packed with block foam insulation and then laminated for incredible strength. The Medallion(R) high-gloss smooth finish fiberglass exterior surfaces provide a great high quality appearance, easy maintenance and superior weathering performance. Both Avion products also feature an enclosed underbelly between the main rails. The new frame's I-beam construction allows for cavernous cargo space beneath the bedroom floor. This abundant storage space (500 pound load limit) can be enhanced further with a unique slide tray storage system (optional on Platinum) that allows easy loading and unloading of bulky, heavy items.
Fleetwood designers took an entirely new path when building the new Avion Platinum and Vintage suspension systems. Avion Platinum utilizes a Mor/ryde RE (Rubber Equalization) leaf spring suspension. The RE system replaces the steel leaf spring equalizer with rubber shear springs. The rubber springs isolate and absorb road shock. In addition, the RE system provides increased dynamic axle travel allowing the suspension to absorb more road inputs. The Vintage gets a fully independent Mor/ryde IS (Independent Suspension) suspension system. The IS system also incorporates rubber shear springs and provides an ample 5.5 inches of wheel travel. The independent design allows each wheel to respond individually to road conditions allowing the IS system to "walk over" bumps that would otherwise be very harsh. Both systems utilize Nev-R-Lube(R) axle assemblies.
Four season performance and reliability is enhanced with enclosed, insulated and heated water and holding tank compartments. This cold weather protection also utilizes TuffPEX(TM) plumbing materials. TuffPEX plumbing resists freezing and is easily serviced as well as providing a stronger pressure flow.
Both products feature a 50 AMP electrical service system and 33-foot and larger coaches offer an optional gasoline generator system. All units are pre-wired for an optional solar power system.
