2001 Range Rover 4.6 HSE Receives Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine's 'First For Safety' AwardLANHAM, Md., Dec. 7 The 2001 Range Rover 4.6 HSE model has received Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine's "First for Safety" award for sport-utility vehicles. The magazine issued the award in its December 2000 edition as part of a special section titled "The Best New Cars." According to Kiplinger's, the "First for Safety" award is based on two objective measures that include "a vehicle's safety record, as measured by injury-claims data maintained by the Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI)," and the presence of "safety features, such as anti-lock brakes and traction control" on the vehicle.* The Highway Loss Data Institute and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety are independent, nonprofit, research and communications organizations dedicated to reducing highway crash deaths, injuries and property losses. "We are very proud that our Range Rover has received the 'First for Safety' award for sport-utility vehicles," said Howard Mosher, president and CEO of Land Rover North America, Inc. "Land Rover strives to build the most capable sport-utility vehicles in the world-and a best-in-class award from a source like Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine is proof positive that we are doing our job." The British-built 2001 Range Rover and Discovery Series II models from Land Rover feature durable body-on-frame construction that incorporates reinforced, boxed-steel, ladder-style frames.
