Donnelly Introduces VideoMirror(TM) with BabyVue(TM) and ReversAid
A New Line of Automotive Camera Vision Products Provides Drivers with
                         The Tools to Improve Safety

HOLLAND, Mich., Dec. 8 Donnelly is bringing cameras to
cars. And bringing child safety products to the Internet A broad line of innovative automotive camera products, the VideoMirror(TM)
Camera Vision System, will soon be available on the Donnelly web site at
http://www.donnelly.com . Each of the products, developed by Donnelly's Electronic
Systems Group, utilizes the latest image-processing and display technology, to
give drivers better views of their vehicles' interiors and exteriors.
BabyVue(TM) is a Donnelly in-cabin camera vision system. It uses a
discreet camera mounted in the vehicle's headliner to allow drivers a view of
reverse-facing infants. Once the child reaches the appropriate age and weight
to face forward in the back seat, the camera can be turned to provide the
driver with a view of the vehicle's cabin (CabinVue(TM)).
ReversAid(TM) is a Donnelly exterior camera vision system, and uses a
discreet camera that is mounted on the rear of the vehicle. Once the car is
put into reverse, the driver is provided an enhanced view of what is behind
the vehicle. Depending on the angle of the camera, ReversAid(TM) can be
modified to become TowChek(TM). This vision supplement product assists
drivers backing up to a hitch without the assistance of a second person.
"These are the products that truly address for the first time, problems
that drivers experience everyday. ReversAid(TM) reduces rear blind spots,
particularly in larger vehicles such as mini-vans and SUVs," according to
Frank O'Brien, Vice President, Corporate Marketing and Consumer Products.
"BabyVue(TM) reduces the need for drivers to turn away from the road in order
to view babies in their reverse-facing seats. At a glance, drivers can now
access a wider view both inside and behind their vehicles."
Each of the products uses a small flip-down hideaway screen that is
mounted on the vehicle's rearview mirror. The screen displays images captured
by low profile, discreet cameras mounted in the vehicle's headliner, or in the
rear of the vehicle's exterior, depending on which product is used. Donnelly
has utilized the latest in CMOS technology for their camera systems which
provides a clearer, sharper image and more functionality than the traditional
CCD cameras which are used for home camera vision systems. Donnelly has also
developed a smaller screen for viewing that does not compromise the quality of
the image being displayed, or compromise the interior of the automobile. The
technology uses a fraction of the power of more traditional systems, and the
small screen allows optimum positioning of the display. This prevents drivers
from having to look away from the road for extended periods of time in order
to determine the activity inside or outside of the vehicle.
While consumers can install the VideoMirror(TM) Camera Vision System
products themselves, professional installation is recommended. The mounting
kit includes all of the components necessary for installation, including
Donnelly's SPM(TM) auto-dimming mirror, at no additional charge. The in-cabin
and exterior camera products are currently available on-line at Donnelly's new
e store at http://www.donnelly.com .
"This system really underscores our commitment to making driving easier
for drivers, passengers and everyone on the road," O'Brien said. "It's
advanced thinking with a human touch."
