Uniroyal Tire Ranks Among the Top of Annual J.D. Power and Associates Replacement Tire StudyGREENVILLE, S.C. - Uniroyal Tire celebrates the latest results of the J.D. Power and Associates 2000 Replacement Tire Study, which last week recognized the best replacement tires for passenger vehicles and light trucks. Uniroyal Tire came in second in passenger tires, ranking above other major tire brands including Bridgestone, Cooper, Dunlop, Firestone and Goodyear. Only Michelin scored higher in the study, which examined consumer response to tire quality, wearability, handling and cost. "This is incredibly exciting. As a company, we've put a large investment behind the brand to produce high quality tires at an affordable price," says Joe Herget, Uniroyal Tire brand manager. "It's an especially great payoff given the value we place in consumer feedback. We're constantly striving to create products that meet the needs of families." Independently funded by J.D. Power and Associates, the study is based upon the responses of more than 7,400 new vehicle owners in the nation who have recently purchased replacement tires for their vehicles. The study provides an overall picture of customer satisfaction with replacement tires, as well as the purchase and ownership experience. Uniroyal demonstrates its commitment to the needs of consumers by solving a common driving problem -- the dreaded flat tire. Thanks to its NailGard technology, motorists no longer have to be concerned with pulling over on a busy highway or deserted road to change a flat tire. Uniroyal tires with NailGard contain a patented rubber sealant that line the interior of the tire's tread. It is designed to instantly and permanently seal 90-percent of tread punctures 3/16" or less. And it's the only flat-resistant tire available in 30 sizes to fit the most popular passenger cars, minivans, pickup trucks and SUVs. The Uniroyal brand has a strong history in the tire business. The brand's history dates back to 1892 as United States Rubber Company. That company began manufacturing and marketing tires with the Uniroyal name in 1964. Today, the Uniroyal brand markets a wide variety of high-quality, high mileage tires, which are found as original equipment on many of America's most popular family vehicles and light trucks.
